...on What do you do away from the computer?

Away from the computer...

I run a computer repair company.

I build bespoke computer systems.

I spend my time trying to convince everyone to switch to Linux as an OS.

Oh wait... Away from computers wasn't it? OK...

I run a home maintenance/landscaping company.

I write poetry/short stories.

I "teach" at the local college (although it's technically computer related).

Think that about covers it!

...on Unique Usernames for Dot4

hmmm...

Either Scott (well duh) or Scott-S (again, duh)

@Johnny Quest: Excellent article - Very well written, and extremely accurate.

@aardvark - You know my opinion on that article mate. Very well written, and very accurate

...on Web design software

Another vote for gEdit on Linux here.

I've tried numerous IDEs, but I find I always go back to gEdit.

Back when I was a M$ drone, I used a program called WeBuilder, which was rather excellent.

...on Coworkers?

I work alone, except when consulting with other freelancers or designers. I find I actually prefer it that way too. I'm far more efficient!

...on Where do you live?

London, England, United Kingdom, Earth, The Milky Way

Or just London, England if you'd prefer.

...on What CMS do you use?

I personally use WordPress, modx, ExpressionEngine and Pixie, dependant on what's required by the client.

I personally wouldn't touch Joomla! or Drupal with a 10ft pole, but that's more personal preference than anything else.

...on Mac or Windows?

I tend to stay clear of these debates, as they generally end up as nothing more than a flame war.

However, this one actually seems relatively civilised, so here's my $0.02

I personally use Linux. I do however own both a mac and a windows machine (2 infact).

Neither will make you a better designer. Neither will make you a better developer.

It all boils down to personal preference. There are some things that macs excel at, and some they suck at.

Same with Windows, although it's generally more sucking than excelling. The only time I explicitly prefer windows over a mac, is when I'm gaming.

I find Macs are better for video editing, but that could just be because I've never really used any windows video apps.

For everyday use, and web design/development, I'll stick to Linux.

I can't believe people are still harping on about the whole "mac mice have only one button" thing.

If you want more buttons, plug in a different bloody mouse.
