Window PC :( - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz - 4Gb DDR2 RAM - Too many 300gb hard drives - 22" HP wide screen

I have more love for everything outside of the PC Tower than what's inside it. Sennheiser Wireless headphones, Logitech Z4 speakers, etc.

Intend on buying a 15" Macbook Pro ASAP. As in, as soon as the money hits my bank account.

Mac Pro: - Two 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon - 10 GB RAM - 320GB HD - 750GB HD - Two 30" monitors

15" MacBook Pro: - 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - 120GB HD

For most of 2009, I worked off my laptop in various hotels and coffee shops.

I run a few instances of VMWare on the MacPro along with Photoshop, Firefox, etc. which is why I bothered to get that much RAM.

Chris and I have the same Macbook Pro setup. Um, Chris...your Mac Pro setup is sexy. Yes, sexy.

15" Macbook Pro:

- 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - 120GB HD

18" Acer

- 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB RAM - 120GB HD

*A couple of laptops with the same Acer config except smaller screens*

Desktop:

- Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+ - 4GB RAM - 4 Disk drives - Custom case (green lights) - 24" in monitor

A recipe laptop? Haha. I've tried using the iPhone for recipes - tiny touch screens are not so great if you're getting your hands dirty.

In some of the Apple meeting rooms, they had tons of power cords protruding from the center of conference tables. I always thought that was a small, but useful idea. Forget syncing, just carry your laptop around the campus.

@chris - Yes! I entertain a lot so it is nice to have one location (which friends can freely access) that has recipes, a calendar (for events/reminders), that is in the kitchen so it is easy to check supplies for said recipes needed for whatever event. If I don't have it, easy to print out a grocery list (which is easier to make since everything is right there).

Although I agree, for single guys living in apartments, my setup is definitely overkill. :)

My main machine is a 2.4Ghz Unibody MacBook (sadly only 2GB RAM - late 2008).

We have an Airport Extreme (latest gen) in the house with 1TB media HD for media storage.

My housemate has a Windows XP Pro SP3 Dual Core 1.86Ghz with 2GB desktop (I refuse to install Vista and with his XP configured for network access there is no reason whatsoever to pay for a Windows 7 license)

In the kitchen we have a Dell Mini 9 Hackintoshed stuck against the fridge door, mainly to stream music. We really need an EeePC, modified with touchscreen for those lazy days we want to actually cook something different than curries or baked beans on toast and are in need of recipes.

In the living room there's a Mac mini 2Ghz, 320GB HD, 2GB RAM (Early 2009) connected to the TV.

The ultimate remote to control the house is my iPhone 3G.

Haha you guys are too funny!! :)

@Scrivs - I tried to have voice activation all over. I couldn't achieve it. I need to re-investigate that for the new spot. Actually, what I really wanted was an inventory type system that would remind me to get the things I need. Like an electronic message "You only have one bottle of Grey Goose left", put it on a grocery list so when I go out, I can stop by the liquor store and re-stock.

Sigh...

Human Brain 50 billion to 200 billion neurons 20,000 shared synapses per neuron

Can't find that one in the applestore :(

Anyway I have a windows vista pc, build it myself. Got an i5 2.66 ghz processor, hd4870 graphics card, 500GB harddisk and 4GB ram.

Want to switch this one to windows 7 and buy an 27" Imac :)

@Willem

One thing on the 27" Mac, it takes a while to get used to the huge res scale, so It helps to have another screen, I use my 15" laptop for testing ( that is if you are doing web work, if you are doing print or digital artwork, its amazing) and for developing side by side with your wireframe/mockup or coding in process its amazing.

Laptop: 15" Macbook Pro

  • 2GB DDR2 RAM

My desktop, that I do most of my work on, is a custom built pc running OS X and Windows 7. MacPro like performance for less then half the price. :)

  • Intel Core Quad Q9550 @ 2.83Ghz
  • 4GB DDR2 RAM
  • ATI HD4890
  • 2 x 150GB WD Velociraptor in RAID0 config
